The weather broke just in time for the 8th Annual Edge to Edge Marathon this past weekend in Tofino. The rain and wind which had forced participants back into their warm beds saturday morning had subsided by race day and the weather offered an almost perfect morning for distance running.
Frontrunners staff member and Adidas sponsored athlete, Jim Finlayson, managed to hold off the rest of the field on route to a course record at The Oak Bay 'Kool' Half-Marathon on Sunday (1:06:45). The race took place under perfect conditions for 95% of the race and then light rain the last few kilometers. There was a record turnout of 501 finishers and new course records on both the mens and womens sides. This event will continue to grow in the future as it has a great atmosphere and is very well organized. Race results can be found at http://www.raceday.ca.

The ING Ottawa Marathon took place today as part of the Run Ottawa weekend of running festivities. This race also acts as the Canadian Marathon Championships, which saw Matt McInnis and Lioudmila Kortchaguina crowned as National Marathon Champions. There was a strong contingent of Victoria athletes at the event.
